BIG BIG NEWS!

Stay tuned for the BIG BIG NEWS because we have two other news to tell you about first!

We just received the SaveOne Men’s Study in Spanish! WOO HOO! (insert happy dance here) My friend, Brad Mattes, president of Life Issues Institute, planted the seed that made this moment happen, so we are forever grateful to him. We should have the men’s Spanish book printed by the SaveOne Summit.  (The women’s study is already printed in Spanish).

Which brings me to the second news, Brad is also one of our speakers at the upcoming Summit happening September 7-9. I hope you have your calendars marked for that weekend! You will receive more details soon. We would love to have you as our guest! But now for the….

BIG BIG NEWS!

As many of you know, SaveOne operates a little differently from most non-profits. We pay no salaries, and most of our services are donated. For example, the national headquarters, where we have been for the last 12 years, has been completely donated to us rent free; we only pay utilities. It’s located in an all brick two-story office park in a great area just north of Nashville. The continuing generosity of our landlord has been astronomical!

This couple is selling the space and has offered it to SaveOne at an unbelievable price, considering Nashville’s real estate market right now. We operate completely debt free and are going to continue that trend, so it is imperative to us that every dollar coming in to reach people goes right back out reaching people.

With that said, we have to raise $150,000 by the end of the year to purchase our headquarters. I believe God spoke clearly that this is what we should do. This amount of money not only purchases the condo, but also pays taxes, association fees, closing costs, etc. We have had $4100 in donations so far, leaving us with  $145,900 still to raise.

We are asking, as one of our SaveOne friends, if you would partner with us in this leap of faith to provide a permanent ministry center for SaveOne. Consider requesting that your business, ministry, church, or pregnancy center donate, or even think about donating personally. We are so excited about this endeavor as this launching point is going to give us the opportunity to help men, women, and families recover after abortion on an even greater scale.

Please prayerfully consider this request. We need your help. Thank you, and I mean THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for donating, for your prayers, for believing with us in faith that this money will come in!

To donate you can go to www.saveone.org and click “donate”.

Thanks for leaping in faith with us!

A Reward Worth the Stretch

We are so excited to welcome FOUR new chapters of SaveOne in the month of February.

*Elkin, NC

*Ft. Riley, KS

*Wilson, NC

*Sparta, NC

“Thrilled” is a good word to use that explains how we feel when a new church or pregnancy center wants to start teaching our Bible studies. At that moment we welcome them in as a new chapter of SaveOne.

Have you ever thought about starting a chapter in your church? Maybe you have never had an abortion, or you don’t feel qualified to teach the studies. No worries. We have done all the startup work for you! We have a pastor’s letter and promotional video we can send to you to introduce this idea to your pastor; chapter tools that will help you know when and how to announce the class; advertising tips and ideas for a more successful class; and, your own personal chapter coordinator assigned to your state as a resource to help in any capacity.

Introducing SaveOne to your church or pregnancy center may seem a little out of your comfort zone, but I can tell you from personal experience the reward is worth the stretch. The men, women, and families you will reach will be eternally grateful to you. Here are a few of the things you will personally witness by having SaveOne at your church:

  • Lives transformed
  • Marriages restored
  • Men and women becoming leaders
  • Relationships with children improved
  • Self-worth returned

These men and women return to their communities, homes, jobs, and churches, and they become the people God always intended them to be before they chose abortion.

Changing lives is what abortion recovery is all about! We truly believe that word-of-mouth will end abortion in our country and around our world. These men, women, and families become a voice for the issue of abortion. We like to call them our “Army of Truth Tellers”!

But we need you! We need your involvement through adding to this army by starting a chapter of SaveOne in your area. It’s easy, and we will show you how! Please contact us today to get started.

OTHER WAYS TO HELP SAVEONE

If you are in or around the Middle Tennessee area and shop at Kroger, did you know you can opt for a percentage of your purchase to go to SaveOne? Go to www.Kroger.com and click on “Community Rewards”. (And if you haven’t checked in a while, will you please make sure you are still listed as helping SaveOne? For some reason, the organization you pick will fall off after a year.)

Also, through Amazon, you can also click Amazon Smile and list SaveOne as your charity of choice. A percentage of what you purchase through Amazon will come to us.

These are two ways to help SaveOne that do not cost you a dime! Of course, we could also use your donations. In short, we reach more people when we have the resources to do so. Therefore, we are looking for people to partner with us for $25 per month. Perhaps your church can do this. Or maybe you personally feel led to support our ministry long-term in this way.

Thank you in advance for all your help and support.

Not for the Faint of Heart!

As you will see below…this subject is not for the faint of heart. My friend Brad Mattes says it perfectly (written below) when he says a person needs a “spine of steel” to introduce this topic. I read my friends article this week and wanted to make sure my circle of friends read it also. Please take the time to let this subject sink in and recognize the millions of fathers who are walking around with the gaping wound of abortion…

It takes a spine of steel in today’s political climate to introduce this type of legislation.

Did the bill’s sponsor anticipate the level of vitriol he’d receive in response?

Regardless of the likelihood of its success, this was a positive move to give voice to those who have been all but forgotten in the abortion debate.

Rep. Justin Humphrey of the Oklahoma State Legislature sparked a heated debate when he introduced HB 1441 which would require a woman first provide “written informed consent of the father” of the unborn baby before having an abortion.

Rep. Humphrey justified the bill saying, “The thing that I wanted to spark in a debate is that fathers have a role…This is about making men responsible for their part in the birthing process…to bring fathers back into their role…”

As you can imagine, reaction from pro-abortion activists was swift and, well, even more outrageous than usual.

James Owens, NARAL state communications director, called HB 1441 a “dangerous escalation of efforts by a radical fringe to impose their rigid ideology on the rest of us.” He also claimed the bill gave men “veto power over all of life’s decisions,” and accused pro-life legislators of demonstrating “backward ideology.”

Mr. Owens might want to consider decaf.

Pro-abortion activist, Diane Horvath-Cosper, lashed out accusing the Oklahoma Legislature of attempting to “shame, burden and degrade women.”

These comments are further evidence that radical feminism has hijacked the abortion conversation. They’ve imposed an all-or-nothing right of the woman to decide whether or not the child lives or dies. Radical feminism ignores the biologic reality that both a male and female contribute different-but-equal parts of DNA when conceiving a child.

Bringing fathers back into the equation isn’t “shaming” or “degrading” women. Nor is it “backward ideology” to incorporate modern medical science — the fact that it takes two to conceive children — when dialoguing on a critical issue of life or death. It would be imposing a “rigid ideology” not to. Dads have a right to be heard. This is their baby too.

The chance of this bill becoming law is unlikely. In 1992, the US Supreme Court ruled in Planned Parenthood of Southeast Pennsylvania v Casey that it was an “undue burden” on a woman’s right to abortion to even require a husband be merely informed before his wife aborts their baby.

The laws of society tell men that if a woman chooses to give their baby life, he is to step up to the plate and fully engage his emotions and financial resources to provide for and protect the child until legal maturity.

On the other hand, if the woman decides to kill their baby by abortion, he is expected to totally disengage his God-given instincts to love and protect his child and move on as if the baby never existed.

We can’t have it both ways. This is a cruel and impossible expectation imposed upon fathers.

I have counseled many fathers who’ve lost a child to abortion and walked alongside their journey of grief, shame and anguish. Watching a man sob for the child he was powerless to protect makes you look at fathers’ rights from a different perspective.

And it should.

I have seen the look of shock on a man’s face when I called him “father,” a title no one had ever granted to him before. Until that instant, he hadn’t even considered in his own mind that the brief life of his unborn child literally made him a dad.

It is a powerful moment.

Millions of men have bought into the lie that they have no right or obligation to protect their unborn babies from the violence of abortion and they are now paying the price. Stress related to the loss of a child to abortion is wreaking havoc on the psyche of millions of men.

Drs. Arthur B Shostak and Gary McLouth wrote about their own abortion experiences in Men and Abortion, Lessons, Losses and Love.  Their research demonstrates that eight-percent of men who have experienced abortion may have been seriously affected psychologically.

If so, Roe v Wade has created over 4.7 million walking-wounded fathers – men who are daily struggling with a past abortion.

If you know one of these grieving fathers, we have a website dedicated to him with excellent resources. There is also a safe place where he can request a peer-to-peer or licensed counselor to walk with him through his grief.

Men deserve a place at the table when the lives of their children hang in the balance. If HB 1441 gets the discussion started, that’s a very good beginning.

Working to protect fathers too,

Bradley Mattes

Transform Your Community with 1 Simple Step

What an awesome year it has been already! We have added 3 new chapters, with twice as many in the works. Please welcome Golconda, IL; Pinedale, WY; and Casper, WY.

We couldn’t be happier with TWO pregnancy centers and a church now having a new avenue of outreach. When these leaders start advertising they offer SaveOne abortion recovery, they will begin to change the stigma of the Church. People in their communities will know immediately they are able to enter these buildings and feel love and acceptance, not judgment and condemnation.

SaveOne as an outreach for your church or pregnancy center results in a lasting, loving, and transforming change. Here are a few things you experience or observe when you start using SaveOne to reach out to your community:

*Love shown to those who feel rejected after this choice

*Marriages reconciled through forgiveness after the abortion

*Lives transformed through the healing power of Jesus Christ

*Salvation found by those who are healing from the experience

*Men becoming the heads of their households again

*Women allowing the past to no longer dictate their future

*Families restored and healthy relationships formed

*The freedom to openly talk about abortion without mentioning controversial politics

These are just a few of the benefits added to YOUR church and community when you take SaveOne as your own and start reaching outside the four walls of the church. By welcoming those who feel damaged and rejected by the Church, the Church suddenly becomes a place of acceptance to those who had felt it a place of condemnation. The enemy loves to tell the post-abortive to keep the abortion a secret because of the Church’s response, but SaveOne proves that being open about the experience sets people free:

“The ministry of SaveOne has literally exploded in our church. When we first offered the class at Cornerstone Church, I thought I might discover the subject was taboo. The response was quite the opposite. I have watched men and women discover that forgiveness and cleansing really are available for every sin and mistake. The people of my church are so absolutely behind the ministry that I have enjoyed riding the wave of momentum with them as SaveOne has reached far beyond the walls of the local church to offer hope to an incredibly damaged part of our society.”  Maury Davis, Head Pastor, Cornerstone Church, Madison, TN

If you would like for SaveOne to be in your church, contact us and we will help you every step of the way. To be an official chapter of SaveOne, the cost is FREE and the results are phenomenal. Hope to hear from you soon!

Be sure to tell others to go to saveone.org and sign up for our newsletter to get my latest e-book, “Abortion and You”. THANKS!

How to Save Others from Hijack

166399_493251558107_3034977_n-1Every passing year, the urgency of our message and call becomes more apparent. With the two sides of the abortion issue, the wrongs and rights of it, the confusion originates. Since the beginning of SaveOne we have had a consistent message of taking back the conversation about LIFE from politics and placing it in the Church. We believe the hijack from the pro-aborts over the abortion issue was created by design. That design lends itself to knowing many things move slowly and very hard through the political system. Plus, there is far less power there than in the hands of a mighty God steering, and the Church at the helm.

It brings to mind the scripture from God’s Word found in 1 Samuel 17:16 NLT that says, “For forty days, every morning and evening, the Philistine champion strutted in front of the Israelite army.”

How long has Planned Parenthood been strutting around with their millions of our taxpayer dollars killing the unborn, and devastating the lives of mothers, fathers, and families? It’s been much longer than forty days for sure!

You may be asking, “How did this issue become political? Who took the issue from the Church and placed it in the politician’s hands?” The answer is, the pro-abortion fighters of this battle. They turned the value of life into a political topic. Don’t be blind, but be on your guard. Satan prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he can devour. He knows who and what he’s up against. He can’t fight hand-to-hand combat because we will win every time. Instead, he creeps in when we’re not paying attention and he takes control away from us. He ensures we’re consumed with other “projects” so we forget to be activists for issues close to God’s heart.

For many politicians, standing on blood money has been their ticket to being re-elected. They tout themselves as women’s rights advocates and repeat the same venomous lies we’ve been hearing since 1973. Unfortunately, the public’s minds are still being poisoned, and sadly in many cases the Church is too.

Abortion is an ugly business. It’s a gruesome, bone-chilling procedure steadily occurring in our world today. So it’s no surprise the Church has tried to keep her hands clean by sidestepping this issue and handing it off to the political world to debate. It’s just easier that way.

To change laws, we must change minds first. We have to get the Church on the right page. It can’t be satisfactory to vote for a pro-life candidate and then decide to vote for someone else who claims he or she is going to lower gas prices, not even knowing their stance on abortion. We must educate the Church first and foremost the importance of this issue. This task starts with you and your church.

Courageously make a stand and let people know your church values life and will no longer tolerate what’s going on. Sure, people might leave your church and you will certainly offend some. But likely, most will appreciate your spiritual leadership. If people leave out of offense, they would have left you eventually during a hard time, so you really haven’t lost anything. But, who are we fearing? The Lord? Or man? We have an audience of One.

I have said many times, “Silence equals compliance.” Don’t let your silence in the church be mistaken for compliance with abortion.

Isaiah 1:15 is a verse that should terrify all of us. “When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not look. Though you offer many prayers, I will not listen, for your hands are covered with the blood of innocent victims.”

I pray that is not how God looks at America or any other country!

The Church holds the power to take this issue from the political arena, but we must wield th-5that power before anything will happen. It will take brave pastors and courageous church leaders to step into an arena where battles for life take place every single moment. That’s when the wind will be at your back and you will join the ranks of those like David who handily took care of the Philistine champion and his strutting.

Call SaveOne today, email us, or contact us through social media. We can give you the tools to confront the abortion issue through love and acceptance, not judgment and politics.

Blessings to you, and may this year be the year you see abortion end in your community through your efforts.

One Way You Can Make a HUGE difference in 2017

What a year…huh? What an incredible, extraordinary, bizarre, yet unbelievable time in which God chose us to live! We saw tables turned, people going crazy, declarations made, and rioters (seemingly) taking over at times. This year has been outrageous–to say the least.

thAt the very epicenter of this fight is one thing…abortion. Sure you can pass it off to the epicenter being foreign relations, or illegal immigrants, or this, or that. But seriously, when we get to the root of the problem in America and around our world, the root is this one subject. Without the protection of life from conception to natural death, our country loses its way. The reason is because LIFE is the most precious gift bestowed on us from our Creator. It’s a gift in which we must fight and protect at all costs, for without it, all other issues and important topics are mute.

When we see killings in the streets or human trafficking on the rise, why are we not surprised? It’s because we have raised a whole generation of people who have seen life be expendable. Something to throw away for the sake of convenience; or because someone has been offended; or because the media has incited people to believe things that aren’t true about another race or group of people.

What is the answer? At SaveOne we believe the answer can be found in the CHURCH. When the Church says, “Hey, LIFE is not a subject that belongs with politics anymore. We’re going to take it back from politics and promote LIFE in everything we do!” Only then we will see the political landscape shift with politics following the Church instead of the other way around.

Through abortion recovery this process happens every day. We are seeing people who once chose abortion never choose abortion again. (multiple abortions are very common). And we are seeing churches start to stand up against the sin of abortion because now they have a tool, SaveOne, to offer those who have made this choice. Men, women, family members, and loves ones are being set free from the bondage abortion brings and are becoming a resounding voice in this debate! Their stories are powerful because no one can argue with personal experience.

YOUR UNDYING PASSION…

So why this heavy newsletter at Christmas time? I want to fire you up and ignite a passion inside you, our SaveOne friends, to start a chapter of SaveOne at your church next year. Make next year be the year that you are unleashing your passion to see abortion end in your community. It’s easier than you think, and truly is an affordable resource any church of any size can have as its own.

Together we can see abortion come to an end. I have proclaimed for the last 16 years that I believe it will happen in my lifetime. What a legacy to hand down to our children and grandchildren!

HEROES TO US

You guys are heroes to us. Your prayers, your financial gifts, your encouraging cards, emails, and social media posts fan the flames for us. Thank you so much. I do not use the title hero lightly. Heroes are precious. And we see you as one of them. If you have taken time to read this blog, then you are that person to us. Thank you for being interested in our message. Thank you for taking your time to be informed of SaveOne’s news. Thank you for being a part of this incredible movement, for without you, none of this is possible, and I mean that.

We are so proud that 2016 brought forth over 30 new chapters of SaveOne…places from Hungary to Oklahoma; from Arkansas to Switzerland. This is because of YOU and how you supported us. People are being healed through the power of Jesus Christ and abortion is ending for them and those around them.

love-life-finalOne huge way you can help SaveOne is through shopping through our resources for Christmas gifts. The sales of our books, t-shirts, and bracelets help us reach more people. Would you consider buying t-shirts, bracelets, and books for your friends and loved ones this year? We sure would appreciate it!

You’ll hear from me again in January when we’re ready to tackle 2017!

My prayer is that every one of you will start today to devise a plan to talk to your pastor or start a chapter of SaveOne in 2017.

Wisdom to glean from…

terri-nordoneSeveral months ago I asked the SaveOne chapter coordinator, Terri Nordone, to answer some questions. Terri is a longtime leader at SaveOne and has had continuous success in offering this class at her church. I wanted other chapter leaders to hear of what she is doing, and glean from her incredible wisdom. Terri is a dear friend to me, so get comfortable and hear what she has to say. You won’t be sorry!

Tell us about the church where you hold SaveOne. How long have you been there? Where are you located?, etc.  The Salem Oregon chapter of SaveOne is hosted by Morning Star Community Church.  My husband and I have attended Morning Star since March 25, 1998 when we accepted the Lord as our personal Savior at a memorial service that we attended and have been attending there ever since.

How long have you been a chapter leader with SaveOne? 10 years!  My first class started in September 2006.

Why have you stayed with SaveOne all these years?  At the time that I started SaveOne I was a new Christian.  In experiencing the fullness of God’s grace and forgiveness, I asked Him “What can I do to help other women who need to be set free from the bondage of abortion know this forgiveness?  I will do whatever you ask me to do please show me what I can do”   This truly has been Gods call upon my life.  I have been called “for such a time as this” and I will stay with it as long as He calls me to it.  The incredible blessing that I experience with every SaveOne class is proof that I am right where God wants me to be.  The proof is in the fruit!

What has been the greatest challenge in abortion recovery that God has helped you overcome?  Well, to be perfectly honest, there are a few….

#3 challenge – spiritual warfare.  We are in the middle of an intense spiritual fight.  Satan th-7has had this issue wrapped up on all sides.  But the way I look at it is if there is a spiritual battle going on then that means God and His Angels are at work right beside me and God will always win if I trust Him completely to fight the battle.  One of the sections of scripture that I teach in my SaveOne class is found in 2 Chronicles 20:1-23, which I believe, is an incredibly powerful outline of how NOT TO fight the battle – but rather, let God fight the battle…”for the battle is not yours but God’s…stand and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf.  Once I handed this battle over to God (I call it “fast from the fight”) peace flowed “Like a spring of water whose waters do not fail” Isa 58:6 -11  This is the fast He chooses!  We are not in control – He is control!

#2 challenge – That I’m going to say the right thing.  God has proven Himself time and time again.  He always comes through!  Have faith that He has equipped you “for such a time as this”.

#1 challenge – Waiting for women and men to come.  When I was waiting for someone to sign up to take my first class in 2006 I was pleading and pleading and pleading with the Lord to bring them, looking for ways to advertise and get the word out, disappointed that SaveOne was not included in our church bulletin yet again, hurt that another new ministry was given much more mention and attention than SaveOne was, on and on and on until God led me to this scripture….”Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth”  Psalm 46:10   Ok, deep breath, we hear you God!  Please give us patience.

What did you learn in that process? Trust, Faith, Patience and, of course, that last one is always the hardest for me.

What is one piece of advice you would give to new chapter leaders that you wish you had when you started?  Answer #4 & #5.  Hang in there!  God is at work in ways we don’t see, hear, or know.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you in a SaveOne class, or while you were working with SaveOne? I can’t think of one right off hand.  We are always laughing at ourselves.  After we get past the first night our classes are full of laughter.

What is the greatest moment that has happened to you in a SaveOne class?  There are so many miraculous moments!  Two of our gals have gone on to start chapters at their own churches, one of which held fast to the belief that she made the right choice “I don’t regret my abortion” and “It was the right thing to do in those circumstances and I would probably do it again if the circumstances were the same”.  She believed that up until week 8!  God renewed her by transforming her mind.  She started SaveOne at her church in 2012.

One of the greatest moments happened just recently when I met with a young college student who sent me an email with a cry for help.  Here is an excerpt…

“….I was raised liberal, and I consider myself a Feminist. I know the logic behind the idea of choice. However, I wanted this child even though I was not legally an adult and in spite of the difficulties that would have been involved in raising her.

I feel like I was stripped of something that was my right, and I don’t know how to get it back.

To this day, I feel depressed, sometimes suicidal, angry, isolated, and lonely.

Can you help me?”

I met her for coffee and told her about SaveOne.  She decided to join our class that had started a couple of weeks before so I met with her again to get her caught up before she joined the class that night.  The very first question in the book is, “Describe how you picture God at this moment”.  She said, “I believe everyone views god in their own way, some might see him as an antlered man in the wilderness, or as an old man with white hair and a beard…”  she had investigated Buddism, Hinduism, even Wiccan so she had all these varied ideas. But as we worked through the first chapter her views began to change.  It was at that meeting when I led her to the Lord!  When she heard the truth of the Gospel SHE WAS IN!  That very week she began attending church.  The next week she joined another Bible study and one of the church Community Groups. She truly is all in!!!  She didn’t miss one SaveOne class and we have witnessed an amazing transformation in her!  She is now ready to join us on our speaking team!

Will you write a prayer for the other SaveOne chapter leaders?

Heavenly Father, Thank you for your amazing grace.  We receive it and stand in it wholeheartedly.  Thank you for being ever trustworthy.  We trust in you to go before us and fight the battle and clear the way for us to go.  Give us strength for today to resist the attempts of the enemy to throw us off track.  May we stand firm, following hard after you.  May we take every opportunity you provide to pray for others, minister to others, serve others, and in doing so bless you.

Thank you, Father, that you have called us to be your beloved daughters and sons, and that you have sent us into the world to be your ministers of healing and messengers of grace and love.  What an honor it is to work for you and beside you under the power and guidance of your awesome Holy Spirit.  May we be good stewards of the gifts you have given each one of us and use them for your glory.

Thank you for all you have given us.  Amen.

The following is a Prayer/Poem that God gave me years ago.  I now recite this as an opening prayer to open our Night Of Honor.

th-6 Breaking Free

You’ve unlocked my heart, Lord

This captive you’ve set free.

It was not my war to wage alone

You won my victory.

When I cried out in brokenness

You drew me to your side.

When confusion fills my soul again

Your peace alone satisfies.

In fear and reverence I approach

To worship before your throne.

Offering you my humble gift

A heart that’s not my own.

My fervent prayer is to know you more,

and to bless your holy name.

What you bestow, I’ll give back

As a living sacrifice and praise.

You are Lord, you are Redeemer,

Your majesty’s untold.

You are Friend, you are Savior,

You are all mine to behold.

Terri Nordone

Prison…or Platform?

I listened to a podcast this week by a pastor named Carl Lentz. He said these words, “Your pain can be your prison or your platform, it’s your choice.” When he spoke those words I instantly thought of the millions of men and women who have yet to understand their pain can be a thing of the past…their pain can be forgiven…their pain can be dropped like a bad habit. imagesbondageThese men and women do not realize they can walk free from their pain because with human eyes the aftermath of an abortion cannot be fixed. So the enemy ensnares them making their pain their prison.

That’s where you come in. As a chapter leader for SaveOne, you literally hold the keys to unlock their prison and set them free. It’s not anything magical you are doing, you are just taking them by the hand and leading them into truth. And what does God’s Word say about truth? It sets us free!!!

You may not think you are making a huge difference because you only have 1 or 2 who come through your SaveOne classes at a time. But I promise you, the difference you are making will be felt, seen, and lived out for generations to come. You are breaking the chains that bind people because you are being that willing vessel led by God to speak His word, and further His message.

Not everyone is willing to be used in that way. It’s tough and warfare like no other, I know from personal experience. The enemy hates you and hates what you do. All the more reason we have to keep on marching forward until we experience victory!

images-1I am so proud of every one of you for putting up the fight, for not backing down, for standing up for what is right, and for putting yourselves on the line to save babies, to save women from this horrid choice, and to save men from this devastating loss. So if no one has said thank you lately I’m saying it now THANK YOU! You are the catalyst to keep SaveOne going.

Please let us know by getting in touch with your chapter coordinator if you need prayer, have questions, need books, or just however we can help you. We are here for you every step of the way.

Love you all very very much!

Promises, Promises

Be careful what you promise!

When I started SaveOne, I remember promising God I would go wherever, speak to whomever, and do whatever it takes to get the job done. That “job” you might ask? Seeing abortion end in my country and around the world. Making a promise like that was easy when it was made at an altar, knelt down on padded carpet floors, in a comfortable climate controlled building. The whole premise of that promise sounds romantic and adventurous. But when push comes to shove, does that promise mean traveling to dangerous places?

Of course it does. When the doors opened to share my heart in the Middle East, I wasn’t as thrilled as I had been for opportunities in Europe, where nice hotels are plentiful and Europeans with a heart like mine reside.

Armenia? I don’t even know where that is on the map! Seriously…I had to Google it. When I saw their borders included Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, and Russia I was a little less than thrilled about the promise I had made when I started my mission.

My husband and I returned from Armenia just 5 days ago. It was thrilling, and at the same time so incredibly humbling that God even allowed me to go and meet the beautiful people of this nation. Once I arrived and started experiencing the culture and seeing the great need for SaveOne in this country I was ecstatic God made a way for me to live out my promise. We are already planning our return in 2017. So be careful not to carelessly make promises to God—be ready to keep them because He will challenge you.

This trip included the first ever SaveOne Europe Summit. Sonja Horswell (our SaveOne Europe Director) and her team did a fantastic job of bringing together 12 European nations who are all teaching SaveOne. What an awesome moment for our ministry as we saw firsthand the lives being changed, and abortion being stopped around our world. All of this happens because YOU give, YOU pray, YOU encourage us, and YOU are getting people into these classes to hear of God’s truth, grace, and forgiveness after abortion.

How Small is Your Comfort Zone?

imagesEsther: Heroine? Fool? Insane? Psycho? What would be your description? Anyone who has read the book of Esther knows the outcome of the story. *Spoiler alert ahead* She enters an impossible battle, it looks as though she will probably die, but she wins in the end and the enemy is defeated and killed. Reminds me of a scene from “Lord of the Rings” when the character named Gimli says in regards to returning the ring, “Small chance of success, certainty of death, well what are we waiting for?”

Knowing the end of the story we can all proudly say we would call Esther a heroine. If that same scenario were unfolding today say…with your sister, your niece, your husband or wife…would you encourage such action?

Esther wasn’t willing to remain quiet. There were thousands of lives at stake. She drew on the courage that comes only from above and she fasted THREE DAYS with no food or water. Can you imagine? She gathered the Jewish people, plus her assistants, to fast with her. Concentrated shared fasting and praying is effective. You will see how successful this effort was in the end.

More than likely she knew she could die, but she went through the painfully frightening progression of approaching the king, planning and executing the banquets, and well…read the story and you will find out all she went through. (Esther-Holy Bible) thIn the end, because of her unwillingness to remain quiet, a whole generation was saved. Thousands of lives would continue on as families, babies were born, marriages endured, family outings were shared, and holidays were celebrated. Who could believe how Esther and her family were blessed? God blesses good decisions. He also blesses those moments when we step outside our comfort zone on the faith of our fasting and prayers, and trust Him and only Him.

One of my favorite quotes is by Theodore Roosevelt, “Better to dare mighty things and fail, than to live in a gray twilight where there is neither victory nor defeat.”

How would millions of lives be different today had Esther remained quiet and stayed comfortable in a gray twilight?

What are you keeping quiet about?

Use Esther as an example of what could happen in the end. Don’t avoid the lives of the unborn, or helping to restore hope, healing, and restoration to those who have already made the wrong choice because it may be too controversial, or too dangerous, or too political, or people will think you’re crazy. Staying in a comfort zone is boring. Be counted among the “Esthers” of the world who have risked it all and were blessed beyond belief for it!
